MTC P-Day Week Numero Tres

We're getting ready to go here!

I'm learning Spanish! It's really coming! I'm certainly not fluent yet, but I'm working on it. I had one teacher (investigator) ask if I speak German after we were done with a lesson. He could tell from the way I form my sentences that I speak it, which is funny. I know my sentences are really weird because I switch to German structure. It's all good though and I think in some ways it does help to know it.

As of right now, we are teaching 6 investigators and starting to teach in the TRC (where they have real people we teach rather than teachers). We'll be teaching one investigator there and then also teaching two people just the one time we're there (on Tuesday). It's so crazy and busy having so many people to teach. All the other districts usually have two investigators plus TRC. We're just lucky to have more I guess. It's pretty great though. I feel like having so many helps us to be able to get better at giving certain lessons and fitting them to fit the needs of each person.

Pretty much this week has been lovely and great and I'm excited for next week to see what great things are in store. Everyone enjoy your week!

MTC P-Day Numero Dos

All of west campus is Spanish missionaries so my branch (which is my zone) is all Spanish, but church is in both English and Spanish. It's pretty cool. I'll be playing in church tomorrow, but didn't have to this week. The teaching experiences we've had were just teachers playing the part of a member or investigator, but later we'll have regular members as investigators and I think normal investigators at some point. We have the most investigators at one time than most other districts usually do because Bro. Snyder wants us to work hard and be able to push ourselves. It's pretty hard because they won't speak any English when we're in there. It's entirely in Spanish and it's a bit freaky, but it works out. We got one to commit to baptism and just got three more investigators we'll be teaching. It's going well and I've learned a lot this week. I feel the Spirit all the time and it's really awesome. 

Tuesday we had a devotional on main campus. Elder David A. Bednar and his wife came and spoke to us and it was so great to hear from them. We were in the MTC choir which was way cool too! I loved it so much being in the choir. I think we'll do choir again this week, but it probably won't end up being for someone of the 12. Also the devotional on Sunday was really great! I love Sundays here so much mostly because of all the music we have and those kinds of great things. 

Today I went to the temple and it was lovely. I don't know if you know yet, but they have a new new movie. You should go see it because it's awesome! Going to bed is almost impossible. I haven't made it on time yet. Usually I end up getting in bed around 10:45 or so, but in the morning it's not too bad getting up. I get up almost right on time every morning. It's just hard to actually get out of bed.

It's been a crazy week and I've really enjoyed being here. I'm fairly tired, but it's great to be learning everything. I sure have learned a lot of Spanish by now. Just so you know, I am having trouble putting up my pictures this week because this computer is a bit weird and doesn't like my card right now, so I'll try to send them next week. P-Day Numero Uno

So far this week has been super crazy, but it's been good. For starters, I can tell you about my companion and my district. Hermana Bate is my companion. She is from Cottonwood Heights and she went to Brighton High School. So it's pretty cool since she lived pretty close. Also our homeroom teacher, Brother Snyder, is from Sandy so that's pretty cool too. My district is made up of two other Hermanas: Hermana Westbrook and Hermana Bunker. I actually knew Hermana Bunker before I came here. We lived on the same floor in the LLC. When I got on the bus to go to west campus (where all the Spanish missionaries live), I saw her and we started to chat for a short bit and come to find out... she's going to my same mission!! I had no idea! The four of us Hermanas share an apartment in Wyview. It's pretty nice housing for us because we are here. The missionaries on main campus have many people to a room and have to cram them all in small place for living. They also have to share the showers with more people (I think) and all that fun stuff. So it's pretty great that we're on this campus because we have fancy apartments. The downside is that we have minimal options for food here at west campus. It's not so great. Today we went to the temple then got food at main campus after. That made me very happy to get a really tasty wrap. I certainly enjoyed that much more than any of the food I've had up until now. Back to the rest of my district... there's the four of us Hermanas and then we also have four Elders. So far I've met one person who went to Alta, but I didn't know him until now. He's in my branch and it's cool to get to know someone from there. I haven't really seen anyone else I know very well except Elder Adams (who I expected to see here) and another girl from our stake who I didn't know well.

This week has been such a lot of craziness. I've spent a lot of time trying to get the language going for me, but it's definitely difficult. It's coming though. Yesterday we had our first lesson (and our second). This was the first time trying a new program of teaching. They had us teach a member and get a referral from them, then we taught the person he referred about twenty minutes later. The other companionships had more time since we were the first ones to go. Our first lesson was mostly written out by the time we were supposed to do it, but our second lesson was a bit scattered and not the greatest. What counts is that we got her to allow us back. So that's good. I think we're teaching her again tonight. It's scary going in to a lesson with very little Spanish and a companion who doesn't know much either.

I'm really enjoying it here and the spirit is so strong. Yesterday especially was great because Brother Snyder led a district discussion in 2 Nephi 4. That's one of my favorite chapters and it was so great. I know he definitely was inspired to do that chapter because it seemed to hit all of us very hard and it fit specifically with what I needed at the time. I know that if I work hard that I'll be able to get the language down and not have too much trouble. It will take a lot of practice and dedication, but I know I can do it. So far I have learned how to bear my testimony in Spanish and should have learned to pray (I've learned it a bit, just haven't memorized it yet). I feel like it's been hard to find enough time in each day to do everything I need to and to learn new things outside of classes and such. It's hard getting done before bedtime for sure. Hopefully this week I'll be able to get the language down more and be able to feel more prepared to teach in Spanish. 

Every week we are supposed to have a talk ready and they call on us to give the talk. That's a bit scary for me, but hopefully I'll be able to do well and not stress out. Also I'm supposed to give the opening prayer in Sacrament Meeting tomorrow and play the piano (probably). I'll be a very busy Hermana  in my branch tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to do well. I'm trying to get used to everything and be ready for anything!
