So this week has been such a great and crazy week. It's gone by so fast with all the great things we have had and done. To start, we had leaders council meeting which is always long but great, then the next day we did our zone conference. So all the planning/preparation/etc. made those few days go really fast.
Wednesday night we also had a baptismal interview and Thursday... Violeta was baptized!!! And Friday we had another interview for Saturday when... Alberto was baptized!!! It was so cool because we were able to find and help both of them in the short time here together and see them progress all the way to baptism. Even though the two girls who were going to be baptized didn't end up wanting to (yet.. they still are waiting for an answer), we still finished great!!!
It's been an awesome week. And we found out that they are switching this area to be Elders, so we've been working on packing up (both of us) and getting the house ready to move everything out (because the Elders will live somewhere else). It's craziness going on. But it's lots of fun on the way. This week I'll be wrapping everything up - today is my last day of work and I have a few days with the other finishing sisters then I'll be back!
Really it's been an amazing time being a missionary here for these 18 months. It's an experience that no one could have any other way. And now I know without any doubt that this church is true and it's the only way to true happiness. I know the Book of Mormon leads us in the way we need to go and that if we read and follow what it says, we will be able to really get to know Christ and continue to grow. Read it daily! I love this gospel and I love to see the change in the people here!

Last Week
We've had a nice week... worked hard and have been finding miracles and blessings.
Recently we have been working with two people who have the potential to be baptized this week and really want to be. They are progressing very well and we're hoping to have one of their baptisms on Wednesday. It will be a sister named Violet who listened to the Gospel a couple of years ago but just wasn't ready quite yet to be baptized. She ended up having to move out of the area for a few months, but just recently we found her back in the area and have been working with her. She says every time we see her that she just wants to be baptized now. So we're going to work with her the last bit necessary and hopefully she can be baptized this week!
Also we have Alberto. He's a great guy now.. One who I think I told you a bit about. He used to drink and had been drinking the day we got there, but since then has not. He is very excited to follow Christ. The other day he called his mom and told her that he is changing and will be baptized this week and she supports him. He's a full grown man, but wanted to share this part of his life with his mother. It's cool to see that he feels good about himself and is truly starting to grow in the gospel. I know he'll make a great member!
This will be a great way to end this transfer and have a great last week! I'm happy and just keep on working to the end. Hermana Coronado is a great worker and dedicated missionary. Even though I sometimes feel like she doesn't like me or that what I'm doing bugs her, I'm really grateful to know her and to work with her.
I'm feeling well and am excited about the work and will keep it up until the end.

A Good Week
This week has had some ups and some downs, but it has been a good week that we've been able to enjoy together. We had the opportunity to go to the temple and do family names this week which was super great and the results of our work that day were great with the spirit and happiness that the temple gave us. I'm so glad to have the temple here in our area.. even though sometimes it is a challenge because everyone has seen it and thus there is more work being done by Satan with all of the people here. We had a two days that we had the full day with appointments planned, but between the two days only one of them was able to receive us. All the others either weren't home or weren't able to listen at the time, but we still kept working on and did all we could to find people to teach. It wasn't easy, but I know the Lord is testing our faith to see how strong we are and it depends on me to do all I can to keep the work going and find the miracles.

Hola de Tuxtla
Hey! This week has been a good one. We've had a good time working together and keep on finding miracles and working for the Lord. We have had a brother accompany us a few times this week and it has been great because he is a fairly new member and has been excited to work with us and present us to people he knows and to people the other missionaries have taught. It's been a cool experience and through him we have found a brother named Alberto. We had a short lesson with him the day we met him. He is a middle aged man who is addicted to alcohol (so we will always go with a member) and he has the desire to quit and to change his life. The brother that was with us offered to stop by for him to go to church and he actually accepted and went. He is already being friendshipped in the church and is learning bit by bit.
We also found a brother who has all the attendances that he needs to be baptized and he just was drinking back when the other missionaries were teaching him. When we met him, we asked him the baptismal questions and he is prepared - has stopped drinking, is still reading the Book of Mormon and remembers what the others have taught. He accepted to be baptized too! The problem is that he works a lot (out of town) so he's hard to find. But we want to work hard still so we can find him and help him come closer unto Christ.
We're working with a couple of other great people who are doing great and progressing bit by bit and I'm excited to keep working with them and help them to prepare to be a faithful member of the church!
I had an intercambio up in Cintalapa (about 1.5 hours away). It was fun to be in a little small town again. Hey Hey :)
We've had some good experiences this week. One is that we're working with two sisters from around San Cristobal that speak Tsosilt (and also Spanish fairly well). They both have the desire to change their lives and be baptized and have a date right now for the 4th. I'm happy to be able to work with them and am excited to see their progress! We also have a few people who have several times they've been to church so we're working with them and it will be great to see the change in them too!
It's been a great week full of lots of work and all kinds of fun. We had an intercambio that went well and was enjoyable. I was with a sister named Hna. Allende. We had a service opportunity too.. we helped a member move in to her new house.
It's also really cool because sometimes we find people who are at the church and we just happen to be there too and they want to know more about the temple. It's a great experience to be able to find these people who truly have a desire to get to know the Gospel and have an eternal family by going to the temple! New Beginnings
This week has been a super crazy week here in Bonampak. We've been working hard and been looking all over our area trying to find the members and new people to teach. We feel kind of like we're opening the area because I don't have much time here and my companion is brand new in the area. So we've looked for all the less active members this week (not quite all of them yet, but lots) and we've found some great investigators in the process.
On Wednesday we got a message from someone we contacted about a month ago saying he wanted to join our church. We thought that was too good to be true, but planned a day to meet with him anyway. He ended up being someone who really does want to change and accept the gospel and accepted a baptismal date. Also a girl who is from San Cristobal area (where they speak a different language/dialect) and she wants to come to church and wants to be baptized. It was really cool to meet her and she also introduced us to her sister. So we're starting to teach them. They both came to church yesterday and several others who we visited came too (that are less actives and a few investigators). It was a good week. It's been a bit tiring, but so great and I am happy to have been able to be here working and finding the many people and miracles waiting to be found. We've seen many this week! It's a big miracle that we have even been able to find some people to teach and get them to church and I know that there are many who are here just waiting to be found! There are always miracles if you let them happen and invite them in. I hope to continue seeing them and that this will be the greatest transfer!

Hey amigos! I hope all is well in the land of red white and blue! This week has been a good one... A bit crazy! But good though. We've had two intercambios with the sisters in our zone to finish them all off for the transfer. We made it just in time. So I got to go up to Cintelapa which was fun. It was nice to be in a littler town again to work. It's a lot more fun there. (Even though I still believe in Bigish cities for living). Then on Friday we had an intercambio where I stayed in my area with (guess who?) Hermana Bate! My companion from the MTC! So that was way fun. I did get a little stressed out because I got a little lost trying to find a street that we were looking for. We passed by it like four times and as we were talking to someone, I got hit by a mango (eaten) from someone who threw it out their window of their car. Cool..
It was super great though being with her because we had fun and also we taught a lesson in English to a guy who is learning and knows a lot of English. The funny thing is that we struggled to be able to speak English. It was almost a year and a half ago that we were struggling together to teach in Spanish! Oh how things have changed! It was cool!
Good things also happened on Saturday! First.. We got to go do a service activity. All of the missionaries serving in Tuxtla went out to collect plastic bottles on the streets of Tuxtla. We filled up a huge truck by the end! That was fun to do! And then we got back and went to the church to get the font ready and stopped by the temple to see the people who came.. Guess who came this weekend?! The people from my ward in Tapachula!! It was so cool! Even though only about 10-15 came, it was so great to be able to see people from my ward again! And I also saw Hermana Agustin there because the branch she's in came up to the temple too! It was a great morning!
Then in the afternoon we went to the baptism!! A sister we've been teaching for the time I've been here was able to get baptized on Saturday! She's so great and so excited to be a member and will do a lot of good here in the ward!
By now I'm a little stressed because my companion is finishing her mission and is leaving the area to me to figure out. She's helped me a lot to feel better and get to know the area, but it's still a little hard. Also we have some trainings to do this week, but all in all it's great! There's a lot of work, but I'm here to do it! YAY!

Special Week
So this week went great! We were able to work a lot and do lots of great things. We had intercambios with the sisters from a little town (not as little as Zanate, but smaller than Tuxtla for sure) so I got to go work up there for a bit and it was fun! And even cooler, I was with Hermana Westbrook from my MTC district! So that was great!
On Saturday, Ceci came to the temple and while she was here we were able to meet up and see her for a little bit, so that was fun. We didn't stay with her too long, but it was nice to be able to see her. Sadly, I didn't see anyone else from the branch, but at least her and some people I sort of know from the district.
And we had this really cool experience.. The other day we were leaving the church/temple grounds and had a great experience. My companion decided to talk to the guard who watches over the grounds. He was there for the first time which called her attention. He didn't seem to be a member from the way he spoke (but later we found out he is just a less active member) so we asked him if we could sing a hymn and share a short message. So we went to the bench outside of the temple and sang him a hymn. With that hymn a parable that Jesus taught came to my mind, but I thought it didn't seem necessary to share it.. but then I did. With that it really made him ponder and he realized that he should start coming back to church. He started to cry and just really felt the Spirit guiding him and reminding him. I feel like that lesson changed him and what he has waiting in his future. He now wants to change and will be able to have a better life. It was definitely spirit guided and we were able to help him change.
Besides that we had stake conference. We have a new investigator we're teaching in English so he can practice and it's great because he actually wants to learn. He cam from about 30 minutes away for us to teach him and we offered for him to go to the Priesthood session with the bishop and a few others who were there and he said yes. So it was great because he could go to that. Usually new people are really unsure about that kind of stuff especially when the missionaries aren't in there with them, but he's great! So that's exciting!
I know the Lord has people like him waiting! We just have to go and find them. And he will help them to change and have a better life! I'm happy to be part of the work!

Birthday Week!
This has been a super crazy and also fun week! We have had about a million extra meetings and had to plan and be part of the zone meeting now. So that was weird and exciting. At the end of the zone conference on Thursday, our district leader brought out a cake and they all sang to me... A little awkward, but it was cool. On Wednesday, the actual day of my birthday, we were really busy and didn't really do much. The sister who gave us food that day knew somehow and sang to me. It was really unexpected. Saturday we went to help the Young women make brownies to give to the mothers for mother's day. But before we got there, they had one already made for me and started to sing as soon as I got there. That was a bit awkward too, but it's been fun this week because everyone has been singing and celebrating to me!
Friday we had an intercambio so that was pretty fun. I learned that I do know a bit of my area, but I'm still a little lost..But I'll learn it fast I hope! And yesterday was fun because it was Mother's day and it is fun to celebrate mothers! Thanks to all of you mothers out there because you are so great and do so much! It's been a fun week and I'm learning a lot every day! I'm glad to be here because I just always have the spirit with me so much more. Sometimes we teach lessons inside the temple which is super great and the people can feel the difference. We're helping a few people who are really making a change in their lives and I'm glad to be a part of it all!

Crazy Week!!
This week has been super crazy! We've done all kinds of crazy things and I have had all kinds of new adventures my way! Monday was normal. Tuesday we were in Arriaga for a multi-zone conference and we split into groups to plan something and as soon as we started we had another earthquake. It's been a while since we've had one here. But now it's normal again. It was supposedly a 5.5 somewhere in Oaxaca. So we felt it, but it was a ways away sort of.
Then Wednesday we got a call at about 8:00 telling us that we were having special transfers. They told me that I would be going to Tuxtla... as a sister training leader... the next day. So that was pretty much really sad for me because I had to leave my area. I loved Zanatepec, but here in Tuxtla it's pretty nice. I finally have a bit of a cooler area.. not so hot! I'm excited to be here, but I'm also really lost. Cool news though. I'm in the area with the temple. That doesn't necessarily mean I can go all the time because supposedly we need to have names to go, but we can have lessons outside there and the church is next door. So that's going to be cool. It's also the area with the mission home, so we get to go visit President sometimes. It's pretty fun! It's going to be exciting!

A Day Away in Jicaro
Hey everyone! I hope everything is going well for you all and that you are enjoying the month as it comes to an end. It's crazy it's already almost May!! But exciting too! It's been a good week here in Zanatepec and we've been workng hard as usual. On Friday we went to a little town called Jicaro. It's part of our area, but it's about 15 minutes away and the missionaries pretty much never go there. It's been a year since they have been there (at least). But we had a reference there and had a desire to go get to know the people there. So we went. It was a good time. It was really cool because we got there and as we talked to the people, most of them had heard about the Mormons, but very little. It was like something new for all of them and they were much more interested to hear about the church. So it's great to be there sharing the Gospel too. We found a few new families to teach and had three lessons in just 2 hours. We want to have an activity there too becuase the people are ready for the Gospel, they just need the opportunity to learn about it. There is so much potential there!
Besides that, the week has gone well too. Even though we don't have very many people who are really progressing or who go to church, we're still happy and working. We are looking for those who are ready and using every opportunity to teach that we can. Yesterday someone came up to us and said that he knows a lot about the church and wants to be baptized. It was really crazy. Unfortunately, he was just here passing through on his way to Oaxaca (city) and he said he'll look for the church there, but maybe we helped him in this process so he can be a member of the church and have al the blessings of the Gospel.
Funny story of the week: So on Monday after I came to write to you all, we went home. We have to cross a highway to get to our house. (There's speed bumps and all, so we're well taken care of.) But as we got to the highway, I saw a horse running away down the highway. It just made me laugh and laugh to see a horse in a highway. I can just imagine a loose horse on Bangerter or I-15. It's definitely a different world here, but it's great! :) It's fun to see the things of every day and to be a missionary here in Mexico!

Besides that, the week has gone well too. Even though we don't have very many people who are really progressing or who go to church, we're still happy and working. We are looking for those who are ready and using every opportunity to teach that we can. Yesterday someone came up to us and said that he knows a lot about the church and wants to be baptized. It was really crazy. Unfortunately, he was just here passing through on his way to Oaxaca (city) and he said he'll look for the church there, but maybe we helped him in this process so he can be a member of the church and have al the blessings of the Gospel.
Funny story of the week: So on Monday after I came to write to you all, we went home. We have to cross a highway to get to our house. (There's speed bumps and all, so we're well taken care of.) But as we got to the highway, I saw a horse running away down the highway. It just made me laugh and laugh to see a horse in a highway. I can just imagine a loose horse on Bangerter or I-15. It's definitely a different world here, but it's great! :) It's fun to see the things of every day and to be a missionary here in Mexico!

Hey Hey Hey
Hola hola people of Utah! How's life for you all? I hope things are going very nicely for everyone and that you are enjoying the Springtime weather and fun! This week has been a good one. It may not have been the most exciting ever, but every week is a new one to work and help others. I've learned about why the government in the U.S. really is good and that we are blessed to live in the United States. It's not bad here, just seeing the things that some people have had to experience makes me sad and grateful.
I've seen a less active member come to remember how importance church attendance is and change from one night to the next. (pretty much). A member that we went to visit was not home, but we found his grandma there and she told us that she was also a member. We weren't completely sure if we should believe her, but by now I do. She said she left the church because of a problem she had with another member, but even with that she came to church yesterday and is planning on going to the activity on Thursday. It's great to find and help those who really do want to change and do it!
I've strengthened my testimony of the plan of salvation and the restoration of the church this week a lot through my studies and sharing these things in the lessons. The church really is true and the plan of salvation is a plan so perfect and exact that helps us reach our way to God. I hope you all can remember that too!
And also we had a cool experience. About 6 weeks ago we contacted a sister (Eloisa) that said she wanted to hear our message. A few days later when we had the appointment, we went to look for her and couldn't find her house no matter how hard we looked. We found other people and that was good, but never found her. But on Saturday we were looking for a reference we had from a member. He said he didn't want us to tell her that he sent us, so when she asked, we told her that we were looking for Eloisa. And she said "Oh.. Eloida? She lives down there" and then explained where she lives and we knew it was her from how she explained. We were then able to go find her and teach her a bit of our message. She accepted to prepare for baptism and wants to learn more. So it was a blessing to find her finally. God's ways are perfect and He knows who is ready and will always prepare the way! :) I love missionary work! It's great!

Lovely Week
Good news: I found a scorpion in our house a few days ago... Okay it isn't the best of news. It kind of freaked me out, but everything is ok. Just wanted to tell you before I move on to the best stuff. :)
This week has been great here in Zanatepec! Definitely lots of heat like normal, but now I'm kind of getting used to being wet all the time from so much sweat. ;)
It's been a lot of work here and on Saturday we had the greatest time! Leidi got baptized!!! It was so great! We went to a river nearby and it was really beautiful. Almost the whole branch went (partly because it was a branch party and baptism in one) and it was super! Leidi is so excited and happy to be a member of the church and I feel the importance of missionary work just that much more now. Of all of the experiences in the mission, she is the one that I feel very confident to say that she is very ready and will be able to grow a lot in her testimony and knowledge!
Today is transfer day.. and good news, I'm staying here with Hermana Maya! I'm happy to be able to be here still and have the opportunity to work more with Leidi and the members and hopefully see more miracles and the fruits of the work. It's a blessing to be a missionary and I have loved these experiences! I hope to be able to help many more in these few months that I have to come!

Tamale Day!
Today we went to Esteban's house and we made tamales with him and his wife. It's pretty fun to learn how to make those kinds of things and I'm learning all kinds of things so I won't lose the Mexican side of me when I'm home. It's been a good week. We had our zone conference on Wednesday. And new sisters came here for the other part of Zanate, so we're back to normal again... Sad and good at the same time. I feel like I lost half of my area though.
Thursday we had an activity in the park. We did a video night. :) We showed the ¨Because He Lives¨ video and a bunch of others. It went well and it was nice to be able to do that. It's been a fun work this week! Definitely very hot.. one time we came home and my clock said 114 degrees.. oooh it was hot!! And I always wake up sweaty, but it's a fun and funny adventure that I never imagined I would be having.
I hope you all have enjoyed Easter week and had a good chance to really think about Jesus and the reason for Easter. It's really something amazing that many of us tend to forget. Also I hope you were all able to see the conference. It was really great and Saturday was my favorite! We almost didn't get to see conference on Sunday because the church doesn't have internet, but last minute they made it work! So it was a great thing to be able to see it! I hope you all have a very enjoyable week and are all super happy!! :)

Happy "Holy Week"
This week is semana santa which meants it's a week full of vacations and all that stuff. It's going to be a great week though! And they always say that semana santa is the hottest week of the year.. but I think it won't be until the middle of April.
We've had a good week. It's been a lot of work - getting to know the other area (which really isn't that hard because we only have to learn the names of some of the streets, but I already knew some. We are going from one side of the town to the other and another all day each day and we have a lot of appointments, but also a lot of them haven't been home. I've walked a lot this week and had a good sweat! :) So that's always good. I come home each night tired and wet, but that's when you know you've done a good day's work. :)
We're working still with a sister (Leidi) who is really progressing well. She's been to church four times now and I am so happy to be here watching her change. Her sister-in-law said that she has changed so much and is so happy. It's my favorite to be able to see the people who really see the need for the gospel and do everything they can to follow in the path! We're working with a few families from the other area, but they're still in the process of getting an answer.. I wish I could just give people the answer for them, but I can't, so I just have to keep helping them and hope they find it soon!
On Monday, something really special happened!!! It rained. I had the thought to eat our quesadillas outside that day. It was a random weird thought. And as we were out there, we heard thunder and it was weird because it's March and usually rain doesn't come until later. And then IT RAINED!!!!! So that was a great day. It was only about an hour of rain, but it made me so excited! :) I'm looking forward to May because that's when the rain will really start to come!

I have a new assignment! Well my companion and I do! It means lots of work and fun times! The other sisters of Zanatepec had a special transfer. They were both taken out of Zanate. And we are now in charge of the whole town instead of just half. I'm pretty excited to be honest. I know it'll be a bit difficult, but it's going to be so great!! :) We're now the only missionaries here in this place and we have a responsability really grand and large.
We have worked a lot this week.. And we haven't even started with the other area yet.. They told us on Saturday about the change and we had to go to our lessons on Sunday, so today we'll start to mix it up. We had a lot of lessons and a lot of sun and all kinds of things. It has been a good time. We're still working with some people who are really great and are going to be baptized! One sister has come three weeks in a row and wants to make this a part of her life. Seeing people like her make me so excited to do this work! And there are some from the other area who have been to church several times. We're going to work with them a lot and see what we can do to help them progress. We also have a lot of activities we're planing here in the branch and it'll be a lot of work with that too, but it's going to be great!
I'm trying to remember what else has happened this week and really it has been pretty calm and normal in general.. just this new change they gave us on Saturday. We'll see how things go.
Today I decided to see how hot it was because I have just wanted to know the truth of this hotness. So I took my clock outside.. the one with a temperature reader. And it said it was 48 degrees Celsius.... that's 119 degrees Fahrenheit!!! I knew it was hot, but didn't think it was truly that hot. Now I know I'll be able to survive in July weather in Utah. :)

Hey Hey
Hey family and everyone! I hope all is well in Utah for you all! Here things are going really well. We are working hard and having lots of fun doing so. The sun can be a bit of a killer some days, but it's worth it every time I see someone change or come to church or have a special experience. Also because it means mangoes. Yesterday I was walking down the street with my compa and we were hungry.. but it was Sunday. But guess what we did? We picked some fruit (tamarindo) off of a tree and found some mangoes that had fallen off of another tree and ate them. Mexico is pretty cool! :)
We have worked with a lot of really special people this week. We have people who we've invited to be baptized and of them three came to church yesterday. It was truly a miracle. I felt faith that they would come, but with the way some people are it's hard to have that faith. But in the end.... they came!! And I know that of them at least one will be baptized! But I have faith that all three will (and their families) sometimes it's just a matter of time and patience. It was a great Sunday because of that though and really hope I'm here to see their baptisms.. I never know when I will go from here.

Hello Nature
Hey family/everyone! How are you all doing up in Utahville and around there? I hope things are all great and happy for everyone! This week was a good one. We had transfers and the whole bit, so things are different but really going well. On Tuesday we were in Chahuites because we stayed the night there so Hermana Oliphant could be off bright and early in the morning. I stayed with Hermana Grover.. It ended up that rather than going to Arriaga to where our companions would be, we waited for them to come to us because Hna. Grover went to the doctor for an ear problem. I got to hang out with her for the day. We went to the doctor together, talked to him in English, and had a resting time (sort of). It was a strange day and we ended up getting to our area around 8 p.m. so we didn't really work that day, but it’s all good. It was an adventure type of day.
Since then, Hermana Maya and I have been working together here in Zanate. It’s been going really well. She has 10 months in the mission, so we both know pretty much what we’re doing. Not like we do it super perfectly or anything, but enough to get by and not be teaching one or the other all the things. We work well together so far. And happy thing: we have a family that we’re working with that is really great! The mom, Leidi, is reading a lot and keeps on saying she’ll try to go to church if she can. I've been super excited for her and her family, but she just never made it to church. But yesterday she finally came, so I’m super happy about that!! We also had a family home evening with them and a family they have in the branch. It’s going great!
Experience of the week… Some of you may not want to read this part if you get a little squirmy. (my warning to you, Mom) Once upon a time I was sitting at the foot of my bed a few minutes after I woke up and I saw something weird. What do you think it is??? A snake!! Eww! It grossed me out a little, but I just sat and watched it until my companion came out of the bathroom. We did all we could to hit it with a broom to kill it, but then it disappeared and we searched for it but couldn't find it. So a little later I’m putting on my shoes and they feel a little tighter than usual. Yes, I did shake them out before putting them on just to be safe, but anyway I guess it wasn't enough. I looked to see why it was so weird and saw something moving and I take it off super quick because it was the SNAKE!! Yeah.. I pretty much freaked out this time. But it was cool. We tried to kill it but only somewhat paralyzed it. But our yard neighbor is really great and we took it to him in the dust pan and he killed it with a hammer. It wasn't a dangerous type of snake, but it was all just an eww experience. Yay for adventures in Mexico!! J
Anyway.. It’s been a good week and I’m happy and going strong as much as I can! I hope you all enjoy the week and do lots of great things!

The Ocean and Apostles...
Hey friends and family! So this week was a good one. We didn't end up having a whole lot of time to actually work for one thing or another.. Let me explain. Well Tuesday was rather normal. We had a district meeting and just did our regular teaching thing. Always good. :) Wednesday we went to the.... (guess where?) ... BEACH!!! It's true. We went to the beach with our zone and one other zone. Every six months we have a missionary activity and this was my last one. It was definitely much better than the Izapa one! I have missed the beach so much and hope I can go again soon after I finish the mission. When I can actually go all the way in. We were able to go about waist high which was great, but I am excited to enjoy it to the fullest again!
Thursday was normal. Friday was mostly.. except that none of our appointments received us, but that's kind of the way it goes sometimes. And it's fine. Saturday! ... was a cool day. We got up before the crack of dawn so we could go to Tuxtla. We left here at 4:30 a.m. to make it on time. And the whole entire mission went to Tuxtla because we had an apostle there to give us a conference. Elder Dallin H. Oaks came and talked to us all. His talk was super great! He talked about the work (obviously) and he talked about having the end in mind always. We should focus on the end as we teach the people. But not only in teaching. He said that we as missionaries don't finish our mission until we find someone to marry and get sealed in the temple. It was interesting that he talked about marriage so much, but it was a cool talk and I liked what he said. He said that men that don't get married are only half a man... and I'm pretty sure that is really not what any guy wants to be. It was also great to listen to our mission president and to Elder Walker (from the 70) who also came and spoke to us. It was all super great! I also saw everyone from my MTC district and my past companions that are still in the mission (Hna. Leon and Hna. Agustin).

Conference Week
Besides the conference, the week went well too. We had a nice district meeting that we talked about the importance of inviting people. So we had lots of baptism invitations and by Saturday we had 8 who accepted a date. The sad thing is that only two people went to conference, so some of their dates had to fall. We're going to just keep on a working with them though so they can make it to be baptized!! I love it because I'm just seeing the work move right along here. The people don't go to church though. It's the biggest problem with the work here right now. Everyone says they will and we just get so excited, then we get there and none of them even go.. :( But we'll help them soon.
We did have a cool thing that is at least a good first step. We have a family we've been teaching and they are super great! They haven't been able to go to church yet but they are beginning to progress. On Thursday though, they went to the activity that we had planned. It was a soccer night. Every week we have activities. But this one was perfect because that whole family (4 of them and their nephew) came and also another investigator. I'm happy to be here doing the work of the Lord and am excited to see the change and improvement that each person can make!

Temple Day and Eating Coconut
Right now I'm just here talking to you all and eating coconut.. weird I know, but I have acquired a taste for it or something. And it's a nice snack. But I'm not really thinking I will stick with the whole eating coconut after the mission thing because it won't be the same..
This week we got a call on Tuesday and they told us we were off to Tuxtla (three hours from the call) because I expire today.. So we packed up, went to our district meeting and headed off to Tuxtla. On the way we picked up (guess who?) Hermana Bate! (companion from the MTC) So we got to travel there together and chat and catch up and all that fun stuff. Then President George had us stay in the mission home while we were there. So we got to stay there (super nice + hot showers = happy camper.. well without the camping). And the next morning we went and got our finger prints taken (again (even though we did that last year.. do they think they change?.. it was weird, but it works)). And we were with like 5 of us from our district! It was so great to see them all (I also saw the others as they were out in Tuxtla and such)! So it was a good day.
Then later that day, we asked president if we could stay for an extra night because they were all going to the temple that night. And he said we could! That was so great! We ended up being there for three days including all the travel time and such - four hours each way.
With all that, it kind of took away from a lot of our working time, but we still did what we could, so that counts. The work just keeps on putting along. Sometimes it's not as hard as other times, but it's never easy. The people who say they'll go to church rarely do, but we just keep working and learning. I've certainly learned a lot this week and just keep on learning every day. On Saturday for Valentines day I studied about love.. the love God and Jesus had for each of us is so special and amazing! And we just need to love others. The two commandments most important that we have are to love God and to love others. So I invite you all to do the same. It will bless your lives and the lives of many around you! Have a cool week!

P.S. today I read 1 Nephi 13 and suggest for you all to read it and analyze it. It's really cool and talks a lot about the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Restoration, and other good things.
I know the Book of Mormon is true and we have it now for our benefit and use because God loves us and doesn't want us to be left without knowledge of the truth and of the right. 2 Nephi 3:12.

This week we got a call on Tuesday and they told us we were off to Tuxtla (three hours from the call) because I expire today.. So we packed up, went to our district meeting and headed off to Tuxtla. On the way we picked up (guess who?) Hermana Bate! (companion from the MTC) So we got to travel there together and chat and catch up and all that fun stuff. Then President George had us stay in the mission home while we were there. So we got to stay there (super nice + hot showers = happy camper.. well without the camping). And the next morning we went and got our finger prints taken (again (even though we did that last year.. do they think they change?.. it was weird, but it works)). And we were with like 5 of us from our district! It was so great to see them all (I also saw the others as they were out in Tuxtla and such)! So it was a good day.
Then later that day, we asked president if we could stay for an extra night because they were all going to the temple that night. And he said we could! That was so great! We ended up being there for three days including all the travel time and such - four hours each way.
With all that, it kind of took away from a lot of our working time, but we still did what we could, so that counts. The work just keeps on putting along. Sometimes it's not as hard as other times, but it's never easy. The people who say they'll go to church rarely do, but we just keep working and learning. I've certainly learned a lot this week and just keep on learning every day. On Saturday for Valentines day I studied about love.. the love God and Jesus had for each of us is so special and amazing! And we just need to love others. The two commandments most important that we have are to love God and to love others. So I invite you all to do the same. It will bless your lives and the lives of many around you! Have a cool week!

P.S. today I read 1 Nephi 13 and suggest for you all to read it and analyze it. It's really cool and talks a lot about the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Restoration, and other good things.

I Don't Have a Cool Title, But Hi
Hey friends and family! I hope you are all doing great and are enjoying your February days. I've heard it's feeling like spring there, so does that mean that the groundhog didn't see his shadow?
This week has been a good week. Not a super eventful or crazy week, but a good one though. We had a super special lesson Monday night. We have an investigator who has been to church many times, but never in his time living here. His dad is a member, but he's just never chosen to be baptized too. We've visited him a few times, but he just seemed to be afraid to pray, but on Monday we talked with him and he said he was in 2 Nephi in the Book of Mormon. So we decided to have a prayer there with him to ask if it was true. And it was so cool to be able to have that opportunity. We prayed and stayed kneeling about 5 minutes after. And then after that he told us he felt really hot and he was sweating. It was definitely the Spirit! We could feel it and know that that's what it was. And it was even stronger for him.
We also had other great lessons this week. But besides those I have had some learning experiences (as always). One was that we had to figure out and do an activity at the church again. This time it was all on us - not just a basic idea that we make happen. So it was good that we were able to do that. It was weird, but now I'm learning to be better at that kind of thing.
I'm still not very good at giving talks. I think last week I mentioned that I had been assigned to talk yesterday. Well I studied all week to plan for it and I learned a lot that's for sure. But when the moment came to get up and talk it was much harder than I expected. It was my first talk that I've ever done with the attempt at not having a written script to read. I feel like having a companion and not being in front of so many people makes it so much easier, but I'm learning. It was good that I had the opportunity. But also it was good that the stake people came because that meant that there was one more speaker and I didn't have to talk as long.
All in all, we had a good week. We did good things. And we have some great investigators. The family I think I told you all about last week is still doing great and we are excited working with them. They haven't been to church yet, but I know they will get there! We have a few others we're working hard with and I know the miracles always come and the success we always work for! We just don't always know when it will be.

2-D Spider Day
Hey.. Happy Groundhog Day dear friends!! I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does. I'm hoping that next year it falls on a weekend so I can be at home to celebrate it with the family! :) So today I saw a spider. Wow what a weird thing for here in Mexico. But this one was really teeny tiny and I just looked at it and thought.. wow that is a 2-D spider. I didn't even know that was a thing. But it almost is..
It's been a nice week. We had intercambios for two days (Tuesday and Wednesday). It went really well. But we went to the part of our area that is like a desert and I kind of got cooked because I didn't use sunscreen on my arms. Bad idea.. the things you learn in a mission are very important. It was a good time, but it was also nice to be back with my normal companion here.
Besides that we had the opportunity to work a lot with the members here. It has helped so much in the work. For one thing it makes us even more excited because we know it's much more effective that way. Two, the members get excited too. Three, good things happen like when the people start to come to church. And all that good stuff. We found a boy who is 13 years old and he's super excited. He has friends in the branch and has accepted to prepare for baptism! So I'm excited for him. We also have found a few others who are really looking like they'll progress!
Another cool thing for the week is that I learned that I can give a lesson/activity on the spot. Before the mission that would've freaked me out a lot. But when we got to the activity on Thursday we asked what was the plan and they said they had a basic idea, but we decided to help so it would be more interactive. And that is just what we did. We taught about baptism and the temple. But we didn't just teach.. we taught like a family home evening type thing where they had to look up scriptures and answer questions and such.
The mission is really helping me to prepare for my future. To have callings in the church and also just for my life in general. The things I have to do here sometimes are things I wouldn't have been willing to do back home, but now I have learned that I can do it and there's no reason to worry. I'm pretty sure that next week I will have learned that giving a talk without a script is a doable thing. I'm preparing a talk for next week and right now I'm a little nervous. But I know it will go just fine. It's a good thing I am having this opportunity (it's the first time I've been asked to give a talk in my mission - weird as it is). So we'll see how it goes! Great for sure.

Week of Lots To Do
We had a lot to do this week. We just worked and worked and worked.. as always, but we had a bit more success with it all this week. Recently we've been a little low on new people to teach, but this week we found like 21, so that will help us out a lot. We had a meeting with all the leaders of the branch here which was good and now we also have a lot of leaders who have committed to come with us for some lessons this week. That makes me very happy. So it's been a good week with lots of work, but unfortunately no one came to church.. Sad. That really is the hardest part about this all. We just work and work all week long and invite literally everyone we talk to to church, but no one comes even though they say they will.
It has been fun working here all this week because it's been cool to see how many lessons we were able to have and to invite everyone to baptism and do all kinds of great things! We found this one lady here who is super great! She just accepted us to come in without hesitation. Then she just listened so intently and when we invited her to be baptized, she accepted. The only problem was that she had to leave to Tuxtla for the weekend because she and her child have a sad disease that comes from the evil mosquitoes.. There are just way too many of them here. So she went to the doctor there, but said that she might be able to go to church there. I'm excited to be able to see and talk to her again and see how it all went!
This is kind of a boring email this week, but it has been a good week, so that's what counts. It makes it all okay. I'm happy and all that fun stuff and I'm hoping I can have a more exciting email next week. Just know that this is the work of the Lord and that He loves us all. Everyone needs the Gospel and I'm so happy that I'm here to share it!

I Got the Lame Computer Again
This is the lame computer which means the one that the numbers and their symbols don't work.. I thought it was just that day, but no. So I'm copying and pasting these !! but not going to have many other symbols this week.
We had a different and fun week. A bit hard, but it has been good though. We haven't had a ton of lessons, or contacts, or much else really but it's because we've been doing lots of other things. We went to Chahuites.. about 45 minutes from here in a bus.. for a thing where some sisters teach us about family history. I learned a little, but it still is hard to know how to find people. One day I'll find someone I know it! And after that we stayed there because it would have been late enough when we would've gotten back that it wouldn't even be worth it to go home because the next morning we left before the crack of dawn to go to Tuxtla with all of our zone for a conference by someone from the 70 .. Elder Valenzuela I think.. It was really great! We had five of the ten zones there so it was cool because we got to see half of the people from the mission. It was the biggest conference I've had in my whole mission.We went back that night and so we had lost two whole days of work with all that. It was good stuff though so it's all good.
We had a really great thing happen this week. We had a baptism!! And it was super special. A brother who has been an investigator for over a year finally accepted to be baptized. In my first lesson with him we talked about testimony and other stuff.. I don't even remember what because it was the Spirit that spoke not me. And he accepted. He's so great and really has a lot of desire to progress and keep on learning and such! He'll make a great member and leader some day.
Besides this, we had a good week. Fairly normal besides the fact that I had divisions for the first time in my mission. Super weird it's been this long. So I went with Ceci.. a new convert as of two weeks.. and my companion was with a member from here. It was cool, but different though because I had to be the only teacher and just ask Ceci questions every now and again. It went well though.
And... today is transfer day. I'm staying here with Hermana Oliphant! No changes in our whole district as strange as it is. It's going to be a great transfer with lots of work and helping others yay!

HOLA!
Hey friends and everyone! I hope you are all having a fun week!
This week we had a special opportunity. We got to go to the temple!! It was so cool. We went up to Tuxtla for a day and the president let us go to the temple with them. It was a nice opportunity and also so weird because it was the first time listening to it in Spanish. But I really liked it. (P.S. the temple here is really small, but very lovely). Anyway we had a long bus ride there and back. And we had to figure it all out this time (not our leaders). Two white girls taking a bus around Mexico.. it was exciting. And we didn't even get very lost. We thought we left the mission for a bit, but then found out that it was really part of the mission so no worries.
Other news.. I completed a year in the mission on Thursday. That was fun. We had a little surprise birthday type party with a few members. It was a fun thing my companion did for me! :) It made me happy.
Yesterday president George and Pres. Olea (I think he's from the area presidency maybe) randomly showed up to church with us. A little weird.. mostly because the branch leaders all froze up a little and were all nervous. It was funny. Then after that they came with us to a lesson. So we had important people with us at the lesson. It was fancy. A once in a mission/lifetime type of experience!
It's been quite an interesting week. We found a couple who are so great! They accepted us and listened intently in the lesson - asked questions, got a little teary eyed and everything. It was cool. Then they accepted a baptism date. Unfortunately they didn't end up coming to church, but we're hoping that it was because they literally couldn't for some reason. I have my hope high with them and am excited to help them accept the Gospel in their lives!
Also tonight we're having a baptism interview! I hope everything goes well for this man because he's so excited to be baptized. (And it's way cool because he's been listening to missionaries for about a year now and just now has the desire to be baptized). I'm excited and know that this will change these peoples' lives. It's so great and the gospel is perfect. It's for everyone and we just need to accept it in our lives and live it!

Happy New Year!!
Hey friends! Happy 2015! I hope you all welcomed the new year in a fun way. I did.. well at least I woke up for a minute at midnight, heard the fireworks, and went to bed. It was pretty low key. But it was good though. It isn't really the most exciting day in the mission. But it was good because I at least woke up.
This week has been a good one. We had a member who was home for the holiday break and he came with us for a lot of our lessons. So we actually had members in our lessons. That was really nice. He also showed us where some inactive members live so we could go teach them. I really learned the importance of members this week which was a great thing. You'd think I should have already known by now, but no.. not so much. We had a good week of lessons and such and one day that we taught 11 in the whole day! It was crazy!~
On Saturday it was the baptism of one of the girls that the elders from our district were teaching, but we've been a part of her conversion from the beginning so it was really cool to be able to be there. She's so excited and I love to see baptisms of people who are really being baptized because they know it's true.
The other good part about new years day is that everyone is drunk.. That was pretty exciting. Well not exactly. It was weird trying to hide from some and just hearing and laughing at others. :) And also lots of people aren't home. But good news.. Everyone that has been here for vacation or whatever is now on their way home this week, so it will be a lot easier to find people to teach.
All in all it was a good week. I want to invite you all to be awesome and help the missionaries this week. They need you and they will love you lots if you help them out! And you'll get blessings. So it's worth it! I know it's true and this is the Lord's work.
