MEXICO!!!!

Creepy bug!

I'm finally in Mexico. Let's just say it's a little bit freaky. Getting used to all of the new and different things is so weird. I'm trying to figure everything out and it's very difficult because I don't ever know what to expect or what I'm doing.

I made it to Mexico on Monday night and we made it to the mission home around 1:00 a.m. (technically Tuesday). We stayed at the mission home that night and the next morning had our orientation thing and got our first companions. My companion is Hermana Carrera (she's awesome and great. And she's from Mazatlan). So she knows Spanish fairly perfectly, but she also knows a lot of English. So that is really helpful. I try to speak in Spanish as much as I can, but it's really hard and frustrating. So yeah... It's coming. Definitely a process to learn Spanish, but I knew it would be. I can understand people more or less at least (but only when they speak fairly slowly).

By the way I'm in Tapachula. It took us about 5 hours to make it here from Tuxtla, so Tuesday was all used up and bedtime by the time we made it here. We got to go to Izapa today which was cool - that's where the Lehi's dream rock is.

Wednesday was our first day of work. We had two meetings at the chapel, but other than that and our morning hours with study and such, we did a lot of walking and taught a few lessons. All kinds of great things! We have walked close to 8000 miles by this time in the week. My feet are so swollen. It's pretty sad. My shoes all rub on the same part of my foot and so it's just sad and I have fat feet. You'll be surprised to hear that I don't have a sunburn yet and I'm still as white as ever. It's true. But just give it some time.

So far I haven't had anything really weird happen besides my fat feet experience over the last few days, but I'm sure it will happen eventually. Also the food is great and I haven't had any weird food yet. Some of the drinks are unique (like pozol which is grains, corn, water and chocolate blended up. It's very common here. There's also another drink that is water, milk, oats, and sugar. That's fairly common as well). We have a meal with members pretty much every day. It's so nice!

It's about a billion degrees here and I sleep with a fan. I get to walk all kinds of miles with all the hot which is very hard, but I'm making it. Also the only place where it's cool is chapels. And those are always cold! But it's nice to go to the church because of that. My house is weird. I'm glad I have a wall on all sides of me, but that certainly doesn't keep the creatures out. Yesterday I found a lizard crawling around on the wall. It's always an adventure being here!

Well.. I'm sure you all want to know more, but that's what next week is for!
Until next week! Adios!
